Summary

Okay! Now that I’ve taken this course (and I feel that I’m still learning), I now know what Assistive Adaptive Technology is all about:

Assistive or Adaptive Technology commonly refers to "...products, devices or equipment, whether acquired commercially, modified or customized, that are used to maintain, increase or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities..."Assistive Technology Act of 1998

I feel that this course has a lot to digest, but I see how Dr. Cyrus emphasizes the dire need and importance of assistive adaptive technology for those with disabilities and special needs and yes, even for us. How else can we contribute to our society if we don’t know how to utilize AAT devices? I am very grateful for the patience of my classmates, especially Liwanag, and most especially, Dr. Cyrus, for just bearing with me to learn in this course. Although I am struggling to learn on top of all my personal issues, I feel that I must persevere to do my best to achieve my goal to learn more about assistive adaptive technology. It’s my way to show Dr. Cyrus and my classmates that I can’t give up. I must look up to those with disabilities . . . how they try to better their lives.
